How to store cold-pressed oil

Keep it cool, dark and capped

Unrefined oil has no added antioxidants, so light and air are what age it. A closed cupboard away from the stove is ideal. Glass is better than plastic, which is why we bottle in glass to begin with.

Always use a dry spoon

Water is what actually spoils oil. A wet ladle introduces moisture, and moisture is where mould starts. Pour rather than dip wherever you can.

Sediment at the bottom is normal

That is unrefined seed matter that settled out. It is the sign the oil was cleared by standing rather than by chemical filtration. Swirl the bottle gently before use.

Coconut oil setting solid is normal too

Pure coconut oil turns solid below about 24 °C. Stand the bottle in warm water to liquefy it. An oil that stays liquid through a cold month is worth asking questions about.
